Well, by now you probably realise I love my music and I mean I really do but what is music? To some its the current chart, to others its a particular genre, music however, is a multitude of genres and performers and spreads out commercially well over 80 years. They key thing I think to remember about music is to embrace and love it. Music is life. I believe this wholeheartedly, memories, passion and enjoyment, no matter what the genre as its a personable thing. One artist may be legendary to one but not to another. One genre may be the ultimate style to one but not to another. My own personal tastes vary depending on my mood or what I am doing. Background music sets a tone, not necessarily what you’d want while driving let’s say. Yes music is a powerful medium and in the right place and the right time is a perfect accompaniment to whatever you are doing. Music lets not forget has been around in Chart form since the 50s. That’s a lot of number one hit singles and even more that didn’t make it. 70 years worth of hits and memories that transcend across generations and families and countries of the world. All touched at some point by something they heard on the radio by chance or by regularly listening to the weekly chart shows in their bedrooms.
That was in reply to my question. Poplock Paul asks Dj Les Dickens ‘Why do you believe Music is so important especially in these strange times?’
To continue with ‘Bognor Dj Les’
Music is a history lesson of life and culture within our Country and the past must never be forgotten as it also influences the future. I love performing now as a DJ because it gives me the opportunity to present a journey every time I play. What is my style? Well to be honest I did mention in my first answer that there are a few out there that only play one genre and are very skilled within that. They specialise in that and do sometimes put on big nights with that one particular genre as the theme. The problem there is of course sustainability as it quickly become samey if it’s done all the time. Music is a release, it’s a drug, it’s a passion, memory invoking moments whereby life is forgotten and people immerse themselves in nostalgia (whether that be from 50 years ago or two weeks ago) and they forget about worries and troubles while you play something that puts them into a happy place.
Currently I have added a page about ‘Actor Gary Broughton’, a group called ‘Get Bognor Social’, A MasqueRox event for May 2020 and Radio Respect !!
I have yet to include other pages, one I am going to re-arrange is for ‘British Combat Association’ which will be covering ‘Self Defence’ and ‘Conditional Fitness’ etc !! I am also going to cover Sasha Alexander who visits Bognor Regis and has made a big impact. In fact I will be covering her service shortly but as most people are aware she is very helpful and a bright new Star in Bognor Regis and amongst her talents she can dance very well. It was a privilege to dance, shoot pictures and I look forward to covering more about Sasha Alexandra soon…
Project 2020 is my current main drive to Promo other Artists as well as my own work, indeed a few of my fellow Artists have gotten in touch with each other and so maybe that is a good thing if nothing else happens, I’m just sharing the ‘Stage Light’ with everyone who has helped & supported my own cause. This is as much about other people I have worked with as it is about Bognor Regis Music Action Dance Events, etc !!
Please feel free to check out my latest YouTube video on my Poplock Paul channel and if you feel mad enough and live in Bognor Regis or surrounding areas then contact me on my YT or FaceBook profile also with my stage name ‘Poplock Paul’ and maybe you’ll be in one of my videos too !!
Ma Dancing in complete defiance, still rocking away. Now learning new skills and getting ready for 2019 with hope and determination to make a difference and put fun in funk dance which is interactive with who ever is up for a dance. Or dance solo and try out new ideas.
No stranger to hard training, bagwork & displaying the art of chain-punching & footwork in action and in dancing. Using old Poplocking moves and learning tap and even Hip Hop via Urban Strides there may be many dance videos to come yet, from one of Bognor Dancers who is trying to keep the dream alive. Shot in location of Hotham Park in Bognor Regis, West Sussex you can find over 180 videos going back for about six years.
Don’t touch me Buster Poplock has currently over 17,000 views. Not bad for a solo artists using dance moves that date back to 1984.
2700 visitors have so far clicked this end of an event where the ‘Dancing Doorman’ throws a few moves.
93,000 people have clicked on Kill Chill 2018. Even weather will not stop the Bognor Dancer Popping and Locking what ever the weather, keep on dancing to keep the dream alive. Dancing around Bognor Regis and many other places is what keeps the Bognor Dancer fit and healthy. Whatever the weather and what ever obstacles in the path of this UNSTOPPABLE Ma Dance force of fun & merry mayhem.
I tend to prefer this days to try and label my YouTube videos into mini series, after the 3 day dance event in High Wycombe via Urban Strides I started an Afterburn mini series. This started about Oct 27th and should continue as far up to Xmas as I can go. i learned a lot during those 3 days and found myself short on endurance which was also a problem when I was boxing 6th Oct so now I’m trying to train not just for technique but endurance as that seems to be the main problem.
I will update this page with regular updates & videos with Urban Strides material I was taught and picked up as I aim to be at the April 2019 Hip Hop Dont Stop event – I might refer to this project & series of videos under Urban Strides for now, I’m putting into practice as what I learned. Sometimes it is best to meet other artists and through Urban Strides certainly provides this, which is why I’m hoping & aiming to go back in April 2019 better condition and shape. Stretching & Endurance are 2 things I am going to have to improve upon, from my notes day 2 I struggled. More training, I’m going to document my improvements through this blog, my videos and a dance website I have created that shall be a reference for future development.
At the moment April 2019 seems far away, and the period after does not look good, but still going to try and be there as it will be a good benchmark to see how much I can improve. 6 months seems like a life time, for now I’ll be trying to end 2018 with this Afterburn Mini Series of videos and posts. I’ll be adding static & reference pages and info to that website as time goes by as a series of updates, main mission will be to update myself on MA & improve my dancing as well in stretches and endurance. Bye for now, feel free to read on and you can contact me via FaceBook, YouTube & Twitter under my stage name of Poplock Paul.
I have started a webpage to house my Urban Strides relevant dance journey as I learn from their Instructors and merge it with my own style. http://dance.bognor259.com/
I’m also part of the Urban Strides family and hope to go back in April 2019 to do a follow up & meet my new friends there…
I attended a 3 day dance course ‘Hip Hop Dont Stop’ via UrbanStrides dot Com in High Wycombe about 30 miles from London.
You can see a video where we danced at the end of the day, I belive day 2 and I had to improvise the 2nd part of the dance but this was allowed as I had back & knee injuries from my Security Work that interferred with my ability to get down and do some break dancing moves.
My experience with Urban Strides was a good one, it was hard but worth going, I learned a lot and got to meet and learn from many Artists so by the end of the day there was no excuse to not dance, thats why we are there. I felt like we as individual dancers were pushing ourselves and whilst we are expected or obliged to be at each class and the end session, I didn’t feel pushed or whipped but the dancer inside all of us makes us want to achieve and we worked as a group and some of the members with experience would help us on some things like a step we’d missed or just needing a bit of info like we could improvise rather than not dance, etc.
So after the event I made a routine in the following video to show that I indeed assimilated the new dance moves, grooves & ideas.
I thoroughly recommend going to Urban Strides dot com as it rocks…
